OSTEOPATHY
Osteopathy is an independent, holistic form of medicine that considers the patient individually and as a functional unit consisting of the body (with all its different structures), mind and spirit.
The therapy uses both gentle and mobilizing techniques to identify and treat functional disorders. The natural self-healing powers are activated and promoted, and not only individual symptoms are treated, but always the person as a whole.
The therapist has three main ways of influencing self-regulation:
- via the bones, muscles, ligaments and fascia (parietal Osteopathy)
- about the organs and their nervous, arterial and venous supply (visceral Osteopathy)
- via the cranial bones, the spinal cord and the central nervous system (craniosacral Osteopathy)
SPORTS OSTEOPATHY
Sports Osteopathy focuses on the specific needs of athletes. Manual techniques such as manipulation and fascial techniques are used to improve the body’s mobility, circulation and alignment. The goal is to prevent injuries, improve performance and speed recovery.
FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE
Functional Medicine, like Osteopathy, focuses on finding the causes of symptoms, disorders and diseases. Research over the last two decades has shown that inflammation can play an important role in the development and maintenance of disease.
However, the fact that so-called low-grade inflammation, i.e. inflammation in areas that are considered insignificant in classical medicine, may be the cause, trigger or perpetuator of complaints and diseases, is an important basis of functional medicine.
The search for the triggers of low-grade inflammation focuses on areas that have long been known to alternative medicine: Exercise, sports, diet, stressors, sleep, and relationship factors.
